Helping Preschool Children Succeed
Are you worried about your baby or toddler? Maybe your baby is not looking at you or smiling like other babies of the same age. Or your toddler is talking "baby talk" when his peers are starting to talk clearly. Or maybe he or she seems to struggle when playing with blocks, rattles, and other toys. If you are concerned, LD OnLine suggests that you read Advocating for Your Pre-School Child, an article by the National Center for Learning Disabilities, which tells you what you can do. Here are some tips from the article:
- Observe your child and start a log of the behavior that you think suggests learning delays or difficulties.
- Meet with your child's pediatrician and make sure to bring along your list of observations.
- Ask your pediatrician or local school district to make a referral so that you can obtain an evaluation for your child.
It's never too early to start looking for ways to help your child succeed in learning.
