These brochures for parents cover a variety of topics concerning the education of young children, from providing the best care to finding the right toys. Some are also available in Spanish. The brochures are available for purchase for a minimal fee from the online store of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
The Screen Actors Guild Foundation produces this site, which presents audio and video clips of actors reading favorite children's books. Related activities are also included with each story.
Quia: Online Activities and Games for Students
This website offers student activities and games in a number of subject areas, including ESL and Spanish. Educators who join with a paid subscription can also create activities and games for their classes. Students do not need to be subscribers to participate.

This section provides guidance to volunteer tutors working with children who are learning English, and for whom English is not their first language.
Awesome Library: Multilingual Lesson Plans
A listing of lesson plans and multicultural classroom resources offered in many different languages, from Apache to Yiddish. Some languages require special fonts for correct display.
Assessment in ESL and Bilingual Education: A Hot Topic Paper
This site, provided by the Northwest Regional Educational Laboratory (NWREL), examines various assessment techniques used with ESL and bilingual education students. Another feature of this site is its section on things to look for when selecting an assessment instrument for ESL and bilingual students.
Minneapolis Institute of Arts: Art Adventures
The Minneapolis Institute of Arts' Art Adventure program is an example of a collaborative effort between the museum and the public schools. The program's volunteers visit classrooms with art posters related to a specific theme, such as animals or celebrations. The site offers samples of some of the posters used.
America Reads Spanish is an organization whose main goal is to ensure the availability of Spanish language reading materials in schools and libraries nationwide.
The Américas Award is given in recognition of U.S. works of fiction, poetry, folklore, or selected non-fiction (from picture books to works for young adults) published in the previous year in English or Spanish that authentically and engagingly portray Latin America, the Caribbean, or Latinos in the United States. The award is sponsored by the national Consortium of Latin American Studies Programs (CLASP).
This website from Jefferson County Schools in Tennesse offers academic vocabulary lists for grades K-12. In addition to lists of vocabulary for specific content areas, there are lots of games, with downloads for the game boards and content word cards.
