National Council for Teachers of English
The National Council of Teachers of English is devoted to improving the teaching and learning of English and the language arts at all levels of education. Since 1911, NCTE has provided a forum for the profession, an array of opportunities for teachers to continue their professional growth throughout their careers, and a framework for cooperation to deal with issues that affect the teaching of English.
National Education Association
Founded in 1857 in Philadelphia and now headquartered in Washington, D.C., NEA proudly claims more than 2.5 million members who work at every level of education, from pre-school to university graduate programs. At the national level, NEA's work ranges from coordinating innovative projects to restructuring how learning takes place to fighting congressional attempts to privatize public education.
National Staff Development Council
The Council's fundamental purpose is to address the issues confronted by all participants in the reform process. The Council views high quality staff development programs as essential to creating schools in which all students and staff members are learners who continually improve their performance.
North Central Regional Educational Laboratory
The North Central Regional Educational Laboratory is a wholly owned subsidiary of Learning Point Associates. As a member of the Regional Educational Laboratory Network, NCREL is dedicated to providing high-quality, research-based resources to educators and policymakers in the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin.
Northwest Regional Educational Laboratory
The Northwest Regional Educational Laboratory provides research and development assistance to education, government, community, business, and labor agencies. NWREL's primary service area is the Northwest states of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington.
Pacific Resources for Education and Learning (PREL)
Pacific Resources for Education and Learning (PREL) is an independent, nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation that serves the educational community in the U.S.-affiliated Pacific islands, the continental United States, and countries throughout the world. PREL bridges the gap between research, theory, and practice in education and works collaboratively with schools and school systems to provide services that range from curriculum development to assessment and evaluation.
PBS Teachers provides educators with nearly 3,000 free lesson plans and activities tied to PBS programming. Teachers can sort lesson plans by subject area and grade level.

ReadWriteThink, established in April of 2002, is a partnership between the International Reading Association (IRA), the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), and the Verizon Foundation. They are working together to provide educators and students with access to the highest quality practices and resources in reading and language arts instruction through free, Internet-based content.
Schwab Learning has recently moved its content to the Great Schools website. Their material helps children with learning disabilities to be successful by providing LD information and resources.
Teachers.Net web site provides teacher networking, columns by educators such as Alfie Kohn and Harry Wong, lesson plans, live meetings with experts, and job information.
Teaching Diverse Learners is a resource dedicated to enhancing the capacity of teachers to work effectively and equitably with English language learners (ELLs). This site provides access to information — publications, educational materials, and the work of experts in the field — that promotes high achievement for ELLs.
TeachingLD provides resources about teaching students with Learning Disabilities, including content about assessment, instruction, and policy. Topics include curriculum-based measurement for monitoring student progress; teaching methods such a co-teaching and direct instruction; and current issues such as response-to-intervention models.
Teachnet offers lesson plans in a variety of content areas, and classroom tools to help with classroom management and organization.
