Between the Lions

Between the Lions is an award-winning PBS children's series designed to help young children learn to read. The Web site includes games and materials from the show, including a literacy curriculum aimed at children ages 4-7.

Ghotit offers unique writing and reading online services for people who suffer from dyslexia or dysgraphia. Ghotit's first service is an online context sensitive spell checker. Ghotit was founded by people that suffer from dyslexia and it's mission is to improve the overall quality of life of a dyslexic.

iTECH - Parents Helping Parents

PHP's mission is to help children with special needs receive the resources, love, hope, respect, health care, education, and other services they need to reach their full potential by providing them with strong families, dedicated professionals, and responsive systems to serve them.

Job Accommodation Network

Job Accommodation Network (JAN) has a free consulting service that provides information on equipment, methods, and modifications for disabled persons to improve their work environment. All information is specific to the disability including LD.

Learning Ally

Founded in 1948 as Recording for the Blind, Learning Ally serves more than 300,000 K-12, college and graduate students, veterans and lifelong learners — all of whom cannot read standard print due to blindness, visual impairment, dyslexia, or other learning disabilities. Learning Ally's collection of more than 65,000 digitally recorded textbooks and literature titles — downloadable and accessible on mainstream as well as specialized assistive technology devices — is the largest of its kind in the world.

Learning Disabilities Association of America

LDA is a national, non-profit, volunteer organization including individuals with learning disabilities, their families and professionals. LDA is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for all individuals with learning disabilities and their families, to alleviating the restricting effects of learning disabilities, and to supporting endeavors to determine the causes of learning disabilities. LDA seeks to accomplish this through advocacy, education, research and service, and through collaborative efforts.

Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes

Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes is an organization dedicated to enhancing human learning. The organization was founded by authors of critically acclaimed programs that teach children and adults to read, spell, comprehend, and express language.

National Association of Private Schools for Exceptional Children

The National Association of Private Schools for Exceptional Children is a nonprofit association whose mission is to ensure access for individuals to private special education as a vital component of the continuum of appropriate placement and services in American education. The association consists solely of private special education schools that serve both privately and publicly placed children with disabilities.

National Center for Learning Disabilities

The mission of the National Center for Learning Disabilities is to increase opportunities for all individuals with learning disabilities to achieve their potential. NCLD accomplishes its mission by increasing public awareness and understanding of learning disabilities, conducting educational programs and services that promote research-based knowledge, and providing national leadership in shaping public policy.

National Coalition for Auditory Processing Disorders

The mission of the National Coalition on Auditory Processing Disorders, Inc. is to assist families and individuals affected by auditory processing disorders through education, support, and public awareness as well as promoting auditory access of information for those affected by auditory processing disorders.

National Coalition for Parent Involvement in Education

NCPIE is dedicated to developing effective family/school partnerships in schools throughout America.

National Disability Rights Network

Provides literature on legal issues and referrals to federally-mandated programs that advocate for the rights of people with disabilities.

National Dissemination Center for Children With Disabilities

NICHCY provides information to the nation on: disabilities in children and youth; programs and services for infants, children, and youth with disabilities; IDEA, the nation's special education law; No Child Left Behind, the nation's general education law; and research-based information on effective practices for children with disabilities.

Parent Advocacy Coalition for Educational Rights (PACER)

The mission of PACER Center is to expand opportunities and enhance the quality of life of children and young adults with disabilities and their families, based on the concept of parents helping parents.

Parents as Teachers

Parent education and readiness program supporting parent education and developmental activities with infants and toddlers. Services include home visits, group meetings, developmental screening and referral to additional resources if needed.

Reading Is Fundamental

RIF develops and delivers children and family literacy programs that help prepare young children for reading and motivate school-age children to read.

Technical Assistance Alliance for Parent Centers

The website provides publications, resources, workshop and training curricula, and a calendar of events for parents of children with disabilities.
