Hello, My name is Michael Cohen. I am 19, I am a student at Sarah Lawrence College and I have had and certainly still struggle with my own learning disabilities. I have had my own bunch of terrible experiences regarding being a LD student in an unaccomodating school. But, currently I've been given the opportunity to do some research of my own design at my school on Learning Disabilities. My research was inspired by a film I saw called F.A.T. City. Has anyone else seen it? I was wondering if anyone could lend me, either out of personal experience or otherwise, examples of how intelligence is hindered by a learning disability, but is not lost. In other words, just because a student with a learning disability appears to have a lower intelligence (however that may be measured) they may not in reality. I hope to show that it is the learning disability which merely disrupts the processing or expressing of ideas, but that an LD student's ideas are no less intelligent.
