Subject: Rapid Naming - Spin off from Pace or Learning RX

Nancy3,

My child is doing Balametrics at home, as well as, vision therapy in office due to convergence, tracking, and other visual spatial issues. His VT provider is also using some of the balametrics components as part of his therapy. He believes in bodywork also. He even has the circular board that is used in neuronet. My child is not capable of staying on the spinning board yet.

I'll look into TLP as another option.

We were also considering Interactive Metronome to help with the brain timing but so much of the VT uses the metronome, it just doesn't calculate to the milisecond like IM.

Do you have any experience with IM? Does it hit the same areas?

I don't know if Interactive Metronome has an effect on rapid naming, but it's an intriguing thought. I do know it helps attention skills. The millisecond timing is unique and, I think, very helpful for motor planning issues. IM targets different areas than the programs you mention, so I would definitely consider doing it. The circular board and Balametrics work on sensory integration, among other things. Balametrics also does a lot of work on the vestibular system. IM would offer a refining therapy for the rhythm and timing worked on by Balametrics.

Sounds as if you have a really good provider. Not all VT providers work on the integration aspect, which is a big ticket item for some children with vision problems (although not all children need that piece).

I don't have this new system figured out. I answered your question about IM and rapid naming on the question about buying audioblox!! Anyway, we found that IM seemed to make rapid naming progress much easier. See other post!!
