Subject: LDOnline Inspiration Awards
This fall, LD Online will mark its 10th anniversary as the world’s leading Web site on learning disabilities. To celebrate our anniversary, we plan to launch the Inspiration Awards, honoring people who have made exceptional contributions to the field over the last decade. We invite you to nominate in one or more of these three categories an individual or group whom you believe to be an inspiration to the LD community. (**Deadline: 15 August 2006) Our categories are: * Individual – A researcher, practitioner, policymaker working in the field of learning disabilities. * Organization – A group devoted to helping and advocating for those with learning disabilities. * Celebrity/Famous Person – A person with learning disabilities. We will also ask this person to honor a parent or educator who served as his or her inspiration. The criterion is simple: Nominate an individual, organization or celebrity/famous person, who epitomizes innovation, hard work and success in the field of learning disabilities or who has overcome his or her own learning disabilities and is an inspiration to others. We will review your nominations and select the winners in the three categories. These individuals and organization will receive a plaque honoring their work in the LD community, and will be featured prominently on LD Online and Reading Rockets. We also will prepare and distribute a press release celebrating the award winners. Please email your nominations to: Barbara Pape, Director of Partner Relations, WETA/Reading Rockets, bpape@weta.com. Please feel free to contact Barbara or Renee Hockaday, Manager, Partner Relations, rhockaday@weta.com, with any questions. Thank you for helping to make our celebration of LD Online’s 10 years of service even more special. Cordially, Barbara Pape Renée Williams Hockaday
