Subject: Disclosure on Interview

I have a quick question about disclosure. I have just gotten my masters in social work. I am strating to interview with jobs. One question they always ask is why did I pick socail work? I am unsure if I should tell the real reason during the interview. I went into social work, becuase of having a processing LD and ADHD. I wanted to help students like me, learn to deal with having an LD or any Diagonis. Do you tell in your interview or discolse later? Please tell me your what you think?

You majored in Social Work because you wanted to help others with similiar experience as you, right? Now, ask yourself this question, why did you major in Social Work? Yes, it's that simple. Be honest. You majored in Social Work for a reason, and what was that reason.

Personally, I would state the truth, but not necessarily all of it. Not everyone understands what a learning disability means. So, I would say, something along the lines of "I always wanted to help people, especially kids with learning disabilities". That would be true, without revealing your own learning issues. After your boss sees how good you are at your job, you can explain that it is because you have special insites into your clients, since you are learning disabled and learned to cope with it yourself.
