Yes, I have mild cerebral palsy and had premature and very traumatic birth. And my brain MRI shows bilateral periventricular leukomalacia of moderate severity(periventricular white matter destruction)which is consistent with my CP and birth history.
However, can I be sure that genetics made absolutely no contribution to my brain damage? That events at delivery weren't just symptoms of underlying genetic problems with the fetus. I found out not long ago that the man that I grew up thinking to be my father (my mother's husband) really isn't my father and that my mother divorced my biological father shortly after my birth. I am no longer sure that my genetics are indeed good.
