Subject: high school math curriculum
My son , who is currently in the ninth grade was just recently diagnosed with Asperger's Disorder and NVLD. He struggles terribly in math. He has yet to really grasp the majority of the algebra he has been taught this year. Is it appropriate for him to take geometry next year with his NVLD? I honestly feel he needs to repeat Algebra. What should we do?

Hi Peggy,
I run a forum for the maths disorder Dyscalculia, which you might like to have a look at.
Both Dyscalculics and NVLDer's often have a difficulty with Visual-Spatial thinking. Which makes algebra very difficult.
Though most Dyscalculics are able to do geometry. So I would suggest that geometry could be appropriate for your son.
