How to survive as an adult with ADD with work, school

I was diagnosed with ADD back in 1987, and now being 2007, I find it hard to find/keep jobs, and being able to comprehend topics learned in school. I need to know what techniques those with LD use to

*Find/keep work

*Be able to learn in school/

*Make and keep friends.

Also if the foods people eat effect their symptoms of ADD.
