Subject: First Day of School

My son is in special education 3rd grade and goes to the new school. I asked him how his day was and he said "he hates school and he hates his teacher".

We were debating grade retention and decided to move him along with his peers to the new school. I realized yesterday, that it really didn't matter which school he went to. It didn't matter if he went to last years school with last years teacher or not. The fact is that he "hates" school and school is "hard" for him and probably always will be. Even if he repeated all of last years work, learning still won't be easy or enjoyable for him.

He is adjusting well to the new school. We'll see how it goes. How was your first day?

((Annette)) School can definitely be hard for our kids.

We've been fortunate that this school year has started well. The last two years did not start off well. My dd likes her teachers and seems to be excited about most of her classes. Of course, this is just the first week, so things could change in a month or two. lol
