Subject: Is an anxiety disorder considered disability for IEP
My 7th grade daughter has an auditory processing issue, possibly ADD and may or maynot be bipolar. She had an IEP in grade 6, but it was dismissed at the end of the year because her grades went from c's to a's. Now she is exhibiting extreme anxiety over not being able to handle all her work without the help of a "resource" teacher. Is this anxiety that is causing her to freak out at home over all her work, with no help getting through it at school, cause to go back on an IEP?? Is an anxiety disorder considered a disability

An anxiety disorder could qualify her IF it keeps her from fully participating and benefitting from her education. However, she may just need a 504. Its definitely something to discuss with the school. It may also be helpful for her to have an outside therapist to work with on ways to handle her anxieties.
