Subject: the ghost of Christmas yet to come - autism

Normally, I like to post articles which are either informative or "feel-good" concerning autism. Today I post one that is informative, but by no means pleasant. Please take the time to forward this to any/all persons you may know who are affected by autism, whether parents, siblings, educators or other professionals. And also, please write to your Congressmen and let them know in no uncertain terms that this looming crisis need to be addressed if we are to help those with autism as they age. (Remember that somewhere near half of autistic children are placed in residential care around puberty, with and unknown number also being placed after they no longer qualify for services under IDEA. Possibly as many as 90-95% of these are funded at taxpayers expense and residential care costs an average of $80,000 - $100,000 per year for people with autism, as reported by the CDC.)
