Subject: Fastforward

We've done FF once but through a speech therapist who I had to pay to oversee. We'd like to do FF again. I'm interested in learning how to get myself certified so that I'd only have to pay for the software. How does one go about this? Thanks!!

Go to http://www.scilearn.com and sign in as an "educator" rather than as "family". When you do this, their online store lists "CrossTrain" as an option to buy. CrossTrain is the self-teaching tutorial. When you think you're ready, it tells you how to log onto the website and take their online multiple-choice test. Assuming you pass the test, you then sign their online licensing agreement and get a certification number. Once you do this, you can order any of their products.CrossTrain costs somewhere around $115 including all manuals, and something like $65 if you print the manuals yourself at home. The last two years FFW has gone on sale towards the end of the calendar year. In 1999 it was offered for $650 during the month of December (instead of the regular price of $850). In 2000 it was discounted to $650 the last two weeks of October, $750 in November, and $800 in December.Do you know want your child's ending scores were? If they were close to 90% in most areas, you might want to do FFW2 instead (they've changed all the names, but it's the sequel to FFW). I'd probably email them for advice before paying again for FFW.Mary: We've done FF once but through a speech therapist who I had to pay to

Hi! I monitored my son doing Fastforward and StepForward (that is like Fastforward 2) at home! I was recommended this program by our Language Pathologist. I was worried I couldn't do it, but it was very easy. Super easy. The Pathologist had a 'computer guy' come with her to install it into my computer at home. We tried the demo cd for a few days and then my son and I just got started! I also learned, on my own, how to "send" the days work to the Fastforward place in California, via internet, for his progress reports. Its a matter of pressing 3 buttons. No big deal at all.The Fastforward (Scientific Learning) people have an excellent and efficient (and nice!) tech help, too. That was two years ago. Last summer, I monitored the Stepforward program 'like a pro' and it went very well.I LOVE these programs and saw a HUGE improvement in my language processing LD kid.You can do it, too! Good luck! You need to be a certified provider to order FastForWord. A parent can monitor the program at home under the supervision of a certified provider. How much did you pay for FFW? The regular price of the software is $850, so anything you paid above that was the certified provider's fee. By using CrossTrain to become a certified provider, a parent can eliminate the provider's fee.: Hi! I monitored my son doing Fastforward and StepForward (that is
