Subject: What are the social skills needed to be successful in regula
I am a teacher trying to compile a list of all the social skills that EH/ED students need to have in order to be successful in a regular education classroom. I am then trying to put together a semester or year's worth of lessons to teach my students those specific needed skills. I already have a list but sometimes others think of things I have not or have left of the list that are important.
I am looking forward to hearing from a few of you.
Thanks
Stephanie

I'm sorry that I do not have any advice but I would like to tell you that I admire and truly appreciate your motivation to make this a priority in your classroom. I'll bet you are a wonderful and compassionate teacher. Best of luck to you and much success. I also applaud you in asking the parents!!!!!

Hi
Have you ever heard of the prgram (actually it is a book) called Skillstreaming? It is available for different age groups. It might be helpful.
Here is the info on the elementary book:
Skillstreaming the Elementary School Child: New strategies and perspectives for teaching prosocial skills

1st, there are a couple of really great books out there. One of them is called Social Skills for Special Students which has great lessons. You can often find it at large bookstores or at Amazon.com. As far as social skills are concerned I can help you but what grade level's are we looking at, the skills vary a lot in elementary school? Email me and we can see what we come up with. IS your school SLP helping you?

Check Rich Lavorie videos First Picked on Last chosen. It has good advice on understanding LD kids and social trouble. LDA of America or your local affiliate, of Learning Disabilities of America should know where to get one.
