What about those kids who have to pass state exit exams just to receive a regular diploma? I am thinking VA SOL tests, the one my son took in 5th grade with accommodations and still came within 2 to 12 points to passing but didn't. We are in Germany now, but would like to move back to VA, my son will be a high school freshman. The SAT would be moot if he can't get his diploma. I truly disagree with the SOL requirement, it could be used for evaluating like the stanford but not as a graduation requirement. Even on the terra nova in 6th gr. he did very well on the parts that were read to him, but the lang.parts that he had to read himself, forget it, the scores were pathetic. We are talking a kid who has historically scored in single digits out of a possible 100.
