Subject: Aditing a college course

Anybody ever audited a college course vs taking it for credit the first time around ? I would appreciate some input as to go this route. Also, is it worth to go to Disability Student Services for assistance . Thanks.

The problem with auditing these days is they often charge you just as much to audit the class as take it for credit. If they're going to charge you just as much, I'd make sure I really needed to audit that class before I did so.

I did audit a class once that helped me to understand how much I shouldn't take the course.

And it's always worth it to give Disability Student Services a try for what help they might be.

Sara is right, generally auditing a course costs full tuition. I've often looked at it and decided against it for that reason, especially when sometimes you can drop a course (albeit w/ a W, but it doesn't count in your GPA) as late as the last week or so of classes.
You might want to scope out the texts and ask a professor to observe some classes instead, or follow along with someone else who's taking it.
It's worth checking out the Disability Assistance folks, and even scratching deeper than the first person/people you talk to. Just finding one really *right* contact can be your key -- so even if you go to the Disabilities office and oh, that person really makes you want to barf, could be the tutor he sets you up with knows some of the ins and outs ("don't take Math 111 from Dr. Mumbo-Jumbo") and can get you over the hurdles. Or it could be an advisor... give as many people a chance as you can stand ;)

Thanks for the advice. I guess there is no cheap way to find out today. Have a great New year.

Ain't that the truth ... at least find out when you can drop & still get your money back :)
