Subject: My 13 yr old cannot read social cues from her teachers
My 13 yr old daughter was diagnosed with ADHD 3 mos ago, on Concerta which has helped her to focus more, her grades are improved greatly, but she still disturbs the class by talking out. She takes it as a personal attack when a teacher criticizes her. She does not want to get in "trouble" but says she does not realize what she is doing till after. How do I teach her the cues and what can I tell the teachers. She is hypersensitive and hyperfocused. She does not have a problem socializing with friends and is very popular but has difficulty in the classrooom still. The school has not done any testing or informed me of any special accomodations they could provide. Should I ask for these? Thanks :)
