Advice? Struggling with uni

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Hi, I’m really struggling at the mo with uni, could do with some advice of some sort, not sure what kind exactly.

I’m finding it very stressful, I’ve always hated education, with a passion, I was only diagnosed with dyslexia at the beginning of the year, I know understand why I hate it so much!

My dyslexia is caused by short term auditory memory defect. My general memory is just really bad. I was given a printer some sofware, a PDA and a laptop, which is great, but it doesn’t help me with my time, it just seems to take me so much more time then other people to do things.

I’m doing a film production course, I’m an editor, so am I’m doing a lot of that at home, so I can concentrate. I’m finding it really difficult to balance everything I need to do, the paperwork, the editing and turning up to lessons. I’m behind in all three. I rarely go out socialising, I’m always here trying to get stuff done.

I get distracted easily, and find it very difficult to sit down and work, even though I have the best intentions, when I do I find it difficult to stay there and make slow progress.

When I turn up to lessons, I usually skip out, cus I can’t stand it any longer and find it difficult to get myself there in the first place, esp when I have so much other stuff to do.

I’m just so stressed all the time, I’m really not coping very well.

If anyone has any advice, that would be great, thanks.
