Audity working memory weakness

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Hey, I’m a little lost. I got lost, had a dyslexia test with my university. I had average litricy skills but shoddy auditry working memory. He called it a spesific learning difficulty but I was wondering if it actually came under dyslexia or had a different name. Should have asked at the time but didnt think.

Also wonderign if it accounts or is relating to some of the other things I have problems with, like when I’m writing a text on my mobile then look for my mobile because I need to do something else on it and then look for it only to finally realise the reason I can’t find it is because, its in my hand. I’m absent minded alot like that.

Maybe unrealted but I seemed to get way more bored easily then everyone else, in lesssons and stuff, I just can’t stand it, I try and consentration and listen but I keep drifting out and just can’t follow whats being said. Keep leaving early cus of bordem, skipping out on the films they are screening and stuff.

Just a bit lost as to what it all means so if anyone knows!

I read a bit about adhd a while ago and it seemed to fit. I’ve scrapped through education thus far and now the pace has stepped up again.

Thanx

Auditory memory can be a distinct condition from ADHD. But if you don’t/can’t pay attention, then you can’t remember. Your other descriptions sound more like ADHD. If you are treated for ADHD, perhaps your memory will improve as well. It is also possible to have both conditions.

And whether or not you get tested, hit that library and get some of the good books about adult ADD. The strategies and advice are worth trying anyway (and are a lot mroe useful than the more run of the mill “Get Things Done” kinds of strategies)
