Here are the rules:
Contestants are to shovel equally tall piles of sand. The sand is to be shoveled into a wheel barrow, wheeled 100 yards then shoveld out of wheel barrow into a pile.
This contest is between an LDer and a non LDer.
The first one to finish is the winner.
The non LDer gets a large shovel light shovel, and a large wheel barrow with a brand new tire and a well greased axle. The Non LDer must wheel his concrete over a smooth concrete walkway.
The LDer get a small heavy shovel and a small wheel barrow with a rusty axle with a flat tire. The LDer must wheel his sand over rough, muddy ground. The LDer’s sand is wet sand.
Can the LDer win? If so how?

The circumstances on the contest represent what it is like for a person with LD trying to compete.
The answer is. The LDer cannot win. We are playing with stacked deck.
People in wheelchairs have ramps and can take the elevator while we get the vocational shaft.

I reaally think your name fits. For the rest of you reading this it would be nice if there was an understanding and sympathetic entitiy for LDer’s.
As usual the troll/nobodyimpportant misses the point. Many people like him are either unwilling incapable of making the mental leap required to understand our plight.
If things were all hunk dory for people with LD websites like LD online would not exist. I realize that there are those who wish to remain blissfully ignorant or continue on a path of denial.
Being that Nit (nobody important) has taken issue with my analogy perhaps he could explain in some detail as to why my analogy is lame.
I think it is important that we articulate our plight in ways that non LDers can appreciate especially when I read and hear about the misunderstanding of LD students made by educators I have to believe that our plight is not well understood. I think that LDonline also understands this because of the forum Realities of the Misunderstood Mind.
I would hope that it is generally agreed that we LDers as a group are very misunderstood. Increasing understanding of our plight is a crucial step in getting the accommodations that we require to live a fuller life.
I think NIT doesn’t know the difference between pity and sympathy. If it (NIT) is thinking that I am trying to throw some big pity party NIT would be mistaken. We are not to be pitied. The pity goes to the fact that we are misunderstood and that our potential is going to waste. That really is a pity.
Could anyone, with or without a disability, win under those circumstances?
It would be as futile as me moving to France to study painting. :)
