disabled without help - Columbus OH

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I am a senior at Franklin University in Columbus OH. My difficulty is reading and comprehending my accounting textbook (Intermediate Accounting 2).

Franklin University does not have the resources to spend additional time to have someone review the textbook material with me. I would like to meet someone in this community who would be willing to spend a few hours per week assisting me in covering the textbook.

For the person who would be able to help me, I have an extra textbook that can be used in this pursuit. The course ends on 12/19/02.

Whether or not I get help with the course, I am now “coming out” about my reading comprehension difficulties at age 38. I would greatly appreciate the assistance in learning to read highly technical material much better because it is a necessity for future educational endeavors.

Thank You :-)

I’m not close enough to help but — I assume you’ve checked out all and sundry tutoring services at the college under whatever names they may have? I’m paid to be available 20 hrs/wk at our local community college but you have to know it’s the “academic development center.” . Also — are there “service” fraternities/ sororities at the school? And check at the local library — sometimes folks who are “literacy volunteers” have expertise in other areas and would be willing to help.
Good luck!!!!!!!!

Dear John,
I can’t help you with accounting. I don’t live in the area. But if you are still in school. Try asking someone in your classes to be a study partner. ask for vocational counslers for special needs. If your in college then you are well off with your LD.
