Funny ADHD Stories for the End of the Day

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

BoJangles,

I’ll start off with one….

I am chronically late for EVERYTHING. I’m in a cohort program so I see the same students each class, this entire school year. My first semester back to school last fall, I was always 10 minutes late for class (among other difficulties, but at least I was consistent!).

Then, my first class for winter term, when I walked in to class 10 minutes late, one of my cohorts made a big show of looking at his watch and announced “You’re right on time!”

A few weeks later I came into class five minutes late, same cohort, “Hey, you’re early!” Luckily I have a sense of humor and can laugh along with the entire class.

I’m about 80% better at being on time for school, meetings, etc. after starting ritalin SR.

This story just reminded me that I’m supposed to be studying right now. I was researching the internet for information on Adults w/ ADHD to do a presentation in three weeks, then I found this forum. “Plastic bag, plastic bag….”

Thanks,
Liz

Neil,

I decided to “allow” myself to ramble around the internet this afternoon, yes, ON PURPOSE! Found my way back to this board and saw your post.

How did your presentation go? I’ll be giving an “Adults w/ ADHD” PowerPoint presentation in my Exceptional Learners class May 8.

Today I found an on-line organizer (for writing research papers). Among other things, it gave suggestions for types of questions to ask for research purposes. Thought I’d try it because I have a problem, first of all, just writing the paper, and secondly, staying on topic when presenting.

My mom taught me to draw on the sides of my paper to concentrate better in class. I did, only the drawings were caricatures of the teacher. I didn’t know it, but one of my teachers actually had us turn in our notes, and lo and behold there was his caricature there looking rather funny. Lucky for me he had a good sense of humor, but I was sweating bullets for some time.
