Help to Interpret IQ Test

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Hi there, I did a Learning Assessment with a Psychologist at university in 2008 where it was found that I have LD and was wondering if someone could help me decipher and interpret the results to be able to tell me what my strengths and weaknesses are in addition to what jobs I’d be good at.

Any assistance you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Kindest Regards,

MrAnonymous

They didn’t tell you? Can’t you go back to that psychologist and ask them or try taking into your Primary, they may know.

Not really no, they just told me that I have a Learning Disability. And what is a Primary? I’m not in the US sorry.

Is anyone good here at interpreting these things?

Thanks again,

Hi MrAnon and welcome here,

To understand your results, it might be helpful to understand the tests?
Where if you look at, you’ll see at top: Verbal IQ and Performance IQ.
Our brain provides us with 3 ways of thinking; auditory, visual and spacial.
So that the Verbal IQ, basically tests your Auditory thinking and how well you process words.
Then with Performance IQ, it tests the combined use of your Spacial thinking and Visual thinking.

So that if we begin at the top, with Comprehension 98 and Picture Arrangement 99.
These can’t really get any higher.

Next we have Verbal Comprehension Index (VCI), where the lowest of the 3 scores; 84 for Similarities. Just
looks low because the others are so high.
Where your only better than 84 percent of people, at identifying similarities.
On the other side, we have the Perceptual Organization Index (POI), with Block Design at 75 and Matrix Reasoning at 84. Which are lower, but still fairly high.
So that basically these separate VCI auditory and POI visual-spacial thinking tests are mostly very high, down to the top 75% with Block Design.

Then if we move down to the next 2 Indexes, with Working Memory Index (WMI) and Processing Speed Index (PSI).
Where the WMI scores come down to 63, 50 and 63.
Then with PSI we have 16 and 25.
Where these scores are a real contradiction of your VIQ and PIQ scores?
So that given your high scores with VIQ and PIQ separately, it can only be concluded that your difficulty is with them working together?

Hi there,

Thank you for that eoffg. But I’m afraid I still don’t really understand what you mean.

I was tested also, and I had my therapist explain it to me. If you don’t have a therapist, ask your doctor they might know.
