I'm second :)

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Hello, I just wanted to say thanks for this adult site, along with the other LD site for adults. I have a LD, and ADD and I am a Recreation Therapist.. I also came across this great book that looks very interesting about a “Mother’s Inspiring Story of Living with ADD in the Family” which is titled “And the Sun Still Rises”. I was talking with the author on Dr. Edward Hallowell’s website. I have read Dr. Hallowell’s book “Driven to Distraction” that made me chuckle since I felt like he wrote the book about me. After all I’ve been through, I have to laugh because I have accomplished more than I ever dreamed possible.
Dreams really do come true, so have faith.

Best always,
Maria

I love Hallowell’s books. I re-read Driven to Distraction (at least in part) about once a year and I actually have two copies because one is almost always lent out to someone. Have you also read Answers to Distraction? It has some good information in it too.

Another book that is a great tool is “Moms with ADD” by Christine Adamec. It is put out by Taylors Publishing. Amazon have it on their site…….. Christine is also ADHD and the books format is VERY ADD friendly!

Keep in mind that “Driven to Distraction” comes on a cassette as well. I read the book several times after my son and husband were diagnosed more than 3 years ago but my husband could not make it through the first chapter. I bought it on tape and he listened to it on his 30 minute drive to work every morning. Books on tape are a wonderful thing for adults with ADHD. Hollowell has a very boring video out there about adults with ADHD-at least the snoring coming from my husband tells me that he fould it boring!!! I watched the whole thing.
