You wanna know what sux the most?? I have been going to college for two years now and none of my friends, haha everyone in Japan have nooo ideaa what the heck LD is. I mean the thing is, they dont even believe me that I have LD. I guess LD interferes me with my friends, school work, hwk, talking in class, everything and I just want everyone to know that there’s a reason for my wrong behaviour I guess.
What I really wanna say is, my friends are all wiser than me and can do better in work and I cant. They can understand everything in one click and therefore, I need someone to explain it to me. I’ll be honest that I told two of my foreign professor’s at school and they were the only ones who understood me and that just felt soooooooooo GOOD! I mean when im at school, I feel alone in this problem coz noone speaks up and I wanna know if there’s someone like me at my college/school.
Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrg, I hate LD. If I never had LD, I would be normal just like everyone else and oooooh yeahh I would be studying in the states or Canada.

It seem like only yesterday I was diagnosed with my LD in college. Now my problem is trying to explain what is the matter with me as people seem to understand physical disabilities at my college better than learning ones. Every time I try to explain what central auditory disorder is people say “Can’t you wear a hearing aid?” as if there’s a cure or something to fix any disability. Then this summer I had a classmate who would mumble “retard” under her breath at me though she had LDs as well and all I could do was ignore her as I was too busy working on art projects to pay attention to anyone else. Or I had to quit college level math ( a class I need if I am going to a state college for my B/A degree) as my math teacher didn’t understand I would need more time in the disabled center to do my tests. There was nothing I could do about it than quit the class and complain to the disabled services. Luckily the disabled center at my school looks out for any problems between students and teachers. At least when I take the class over I will hopefully have a job by then and can afford a private tutor to help me, and the disabled center director told me I can register for their classes again even though I’m graduating with my A/A degree this Fall.

Sounds reasonably good (tho’ the math situation isn’t) - also check out *all* the tutoring options at the school. Since you are a transfer student, there may be a TRIO or GOALS program (a federal program to help students with disabilities, low income, first generation students and maybe another category) that could supply you with technology, tutoring & other support.
I work at a college and most folks don’t get it in one click, but a lot of people come to me for help and they’re *sure* everybody else is getting it. If all your friends get it in one click, then you’ve got smart friends (which says you’re pretty smart too, even if you have to work at it :))
I know that doesn’t help when you have to work harder than the people around you for the same thing… and you’re working when they’re playing… guess you can pick - don’t do the work and get the bad grades, or do the work… life ain’t fair…
