i dont have a suggestion to give you. wish like hell i did. i just wanted to say that I have the Same problem. ive been on meds for ab out 6-7 years i think, @!#$ i cant remember. hahaha but i many times cant remember things. .. like words. i cant seem to sometime find words im looking for. its like my memory is so busy doing stuff it cant pull up stuff. one time i actually forgot this persons name that i needed to call on the radio. it was an emergency too. i couldnt for the life of me recall the name of the person. so i had to just move on.

i will be trying to tell someone where somthing is and cant think of the life of me the words that tell where the object is.

You feel that you can’t remember as well as you did before you were diagnosed with ADHD? You can remember as good as ever. I went through this when I first was called ADD and sometimes still convince myself that I can’t remember anything unless I take my medication, which sometimes is only an excuse NOT to remember/do/study something. This is not healthy. First, you have to believe that you’ll remember it: “I will remember this”. Second, use an example, associate a date/person with an image or symbol which represents the thing, for example, I had to remember the word “ominous” and often forgot what the heck it meant. I would gaze for minute after minute at the definition and still would mix it up or forget it. Finally, after wasting time trying to remember this definition word for word, I used an ACTIVE learning technique which was simply using ominous in a sentence that I could relate to, like during a spelling bee when the speller goes “could you use it in a sentence”. I associate “ominous” now with Frodo from Lord of the Rings (remember I’m ADD :)) by remembering how Frodo felt when he was to embark on his journey to the bad place called Mordor: afraid, anxious, apprehensive, fearful, scared, ominous. This works for me. I recommend it. I went from a 1.0 GPA to a 3.1 GPA (not Phi Beta Kappa, but for me it was a colossal accomplishment) using this goofy stuff.

Theres more but I have to go. Email me if u want.

Why bother…..the people with the ADHD problem don’t think that they have a problem when they can’t remember things.

I have the same problem, and it’s absolutly mind numbingly frustrating. I used to be able to remember everything, from entire song lyrics to everyones name, to sentences in movies. I can’t remember anything anymore. I feel so hopeless. I goto a very highly regarded psychiatrist and he has nothing for me to do.

I’m glad I’m not the only one in this boat. I get so frustrated and down on myself trying to remember something. Someone tells me their name and two seconds later I’m trying to think of the name they just said. Other times I have to think about something FOREVER until I can recall it. It gets so frustrating. I was hoping it gets easier when I get older, but it seems the more difficult it becomes. Well, it looks like we all need some prayer in this area. Not just me. How do you guys cope with it? Unfortunately it becomes a roller coster ride for me.

Some persons with ADHD find that the right ADHD medicine for them tends to temporarily improve memory skills vs cause memory difficulties.

If an ADHD medicine is causing memory difficulties, that’s an item you might want to talk with the physician who prescribed the ADHD medicine as well as the pharmacist who dispensed the medicine.
