Reparations

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Folks:

For many years now, people with LD/ADD have been discriminated against denied employment ie: disclose your disability no job !). It all boils down to discrimination and its sickning. Also, alot of people are bullied in school or openly harrassed with approval of authority figures. We should demand reparations from the government of $7 billion dollars for alot of suffering and discrimination. Frankly, the LD community should get to a point and decide we can seperate ourselves from the unfriendly society and associate with LD/ADD folks vs trying to get the “popular people” to notice us, because it ain’t gonna happen ! Maybe we should ask for limited self-rule in territory for LD people to prevent discrimination and harrassment of our people.

asking the goverment to do somehting is out of the question. They don’t care about any one so why would they care about people who need help. Their are laws out their to protect us but it’s alot to ask some one to fight for us will nevr happen.

Yeah Joe… The government owes us some monies up front ! They paid the Japanese Americans for internment during the 1940’s and pressure the Germans to pay the Jews even 60 years after. We at least should each get $40,000 per person for the wrongs done to our ancestors.

I wonder if they would deduct from the award the earnings of some successful and likely ADD/LD patients. Like Thomas Edison and Einstein? And that is far from a complete list!

Unfortunetly a good deal of the bullies were probably ADHD patients and a good deal of the victims are like myself ADD - innatentive, etc.

As far as employers go, if they don’t want to hire energetic employees, who can apply super-human focus, show tremendous creativity that is there loss and their competitors gain. Quit griping, find vocations that can utilize your strengths and work to put the people who wouldn’t hire you out of business!

Ugh, it’s 2:40 in the morning Pacific Time, I need to go to bed.

Class action suit against the companies, institutions and government who provide the tools of repression and persecution. That is what needs to be done.

I have an adult son who has add/hd in addition to being emotionally disturbed. It appears to be heriditary in my family. The gene is on my side of the family. I can go back four generations. I’ve encountered unbelivable events involving my children with learning disabilities. I was told by a social professional that my child could receive SSI benefits from the Social Security Administration when he became an adult. I have records dating back to 1989 from schools, hospitals, and the numerous test results. When I applied for SSI, my son’s application was declined. He was tested by two different sources. I was told that he was a spoiled child, that was his professional evaluation. I’ve encountered many social, moral, finacial, and judicial problems since he graduated from high school. I made sure he received a diploma. He broke many athletic records during his school years and because of his behavoir, he wasn’t recognized or honored for outstanding achievements. He was entilted to a varsity jacket with varsity letters. He wasn’t allowed to attend his senior prom. He was sent to alternative schools or classes since second grade. He hasnot held a job for more than four months. His employers are impressed with his knowledge of computers and processing data. Tardiness, disobeying rules, and occasssional disciplinary actions caused terminations without unemployment benefits. The only job he likes is bagging groceries for tips. He doesn’t have require supervision, time limits, or many rules. He is really a people person. He’s too kind and loving for this world.

I want to mention something I heard. I don’t know if it’s true or not. I was told that Mr. Colon Powell knew of an experiment conducted between teens taking ritalin with cocaine addicts. The experiment was to switch the drugs. The drug addicts were given ritalin and the teens were given cocaine. The end result was the drug addicts said they received a better high from the ritalin. The teens said there wasn’t any difference and the ritalin was stronger. I allowed my son to take it only during school hours to keep him in school and the administration off my back. They would call my job almost daily to come get my child from school. I almost lost a few jobs because it. I even stopped working at times. Can you imagine my trying to explain to a new employer why I left my previous employer?

Really…. Folks, I think we should press for reperation monies either here at home, or take the case to the World Court in The Hauge, Netherlands. This is because of stories like Laverne’s that break a decent person’s heart. I would like at least $20,000 and an acknowlegement of my suffering and repression at the hands of the authorities and their willing persecutors. What I have is not my fault. Period ! What I had to go through was hell in school, daily life and it is not fun.

Well…..

You know, it is women who should really have the reparations.

Then too all people with disabilities before we had cut away curbs and buses that could take wheel chairs and so forth.
