Hi everyone, I’m looking for a good university to transfer to out maryland! But it has to have excellent or really good support servicies for an ld/adhd student, like my-self. I live in maryland now, hoping to finish up soon at the community college that I’m going to now! Which does not have good sevicies for students with ld and adhd. If anyone knows of any good university’s please let me know:) I’m looking for university’s in the mid-west. But any other’s will do.

Thankyou!

I always suggest checking out the K&W Guide to Colleges for Students with Learning Differences. While some schools not listed in that guide do offer good support to their students with learning differences, that book is still a good place to start.

You might want to check with Brehm — it’s a high school for LD kids, in Illinois. Find out where those seniors go to college. SIU (Southern Illinois U.) has lots of services so I”d definitely check into that (they ain’t perfect, but they’re good :-)).

It was my experience that the students with disabilities office a Mohawk Valley Community College in central NY was inept and outright hostile towards LD students but in my case the instructors for the most part tried very hard to be accomadating.

When policy and interpretation of the assinine ADA are involved things get really screwed up. I my case the students with disabilities office was essentially a do nothing entity. I suspect that colleges are required to have such an office but I don’t think those departments are required to do anything other than provide lip service.

Wright State University, where I went—it’s supposed to be one of the best places for any kind of disability. I knew people who used some of the LD services and they never had any complaints. There were always people in different classes taking notes for people and there were a lot of other on-campus services.
