16 year old daughter with dyslexia/dyscalculia to College

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

We live in England and my daughter has chosen to leave secondary school and go to college. She has dyslexia/dyscalculia and I am a bit worried about her low self esteem whilst going to a new college. She does go to college one day a week so is aware of the goings on and routine there but she will not be in a course with anyone she knows. How can I provide for this. Although there will be some of her peers going to the college to do other courses. She is doing the media-art & design course there and she definitely loves media. She is doing GCSE media and ICT at school. How can we prepare her for her new life at college. She is still very young for her age and she finds people who bully her and call her names tend to get to her and upset her. She doesnt get the thing “ignore people or walk away from them” ignoring people and not answering their remarks will make them stop saying it. Help please asap
