The Heart of Literacy: 7 Keys to Comprehension
Saturday, March 06, 2004 @ 9 am- 3 pm
This full day program for parents and educators focuses on demystifying reading by showing how comprehension strategies can enhance a child’s love of reading. It explores the visible and invisible sides of reading, provides an overview of the 7 keys to comprehension and gives specific advice on encouraging and supporting children to become avid readers.
The morning session will be conducted by our keynote speaker, Susan Zimmermann. In the afternoon- parents and educators split into two groups. Educators will learn Classroom Applications of Comprehension Strategies. Parents will explore Successful Homework Strategies and Supporting Comprehension at Home through Assisted Technology.
