For parents of students with disabilities in the Washington, DC metropolitan area:

Transition Planning for Students and Parents

In collaboration with State of the Art, Inc., The MayaTech Corporation is arranging a focus group discussion as part of a research study to develop an educational program (including a videotape and resource guide) that will show students with disabilities and their parents as successful models for transition planning from school to community life.

The videotape will demonstrate how real families, students, and school systems work together to overcome the barriers of limited resources to find appropriate goals and the means to accomplish those goals. The resource guide, Roadmaps, will accompany the videotape to provide students and their parents with information and forms to help the family organize the planning process.

This program is being developed through funding provided by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, NIH.

Please help us develop this program by participating in the focus group discussion.
