I am sorry Susan

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Hello!!!!!
You may remeber a posting by Susan Dechter about her teaching methods. When I read this I was shocked by its content and wrote a nasty reply. I even e-mailed ldonlin to remove it. I now look back and would like to say I am sorry for my actions and would like to say I support her ideas, but not her methods. I feel that it is important to keep the students under control, but not by using sicking methodes. Instead teachers should work one on one with the child to find out what it will take to help the child over come the obsticales that asre in the way. So Susan if you read this I hope that you see I am not always a sarcastic and angry student teacher that I made myself out to be.

I am glad to see that you have realized how wrong you where for replying to poor Susan in that. You have to relize that there are many diffrent ways for teachers to handle their students. Some of them might sound scary or mean, but it isn’t always true. Susan is a teacher of my son. He loves her and has improved so much since we sighned him up for Learning Skills. Susan has also been there to support our family during the time of transition. So I hope you see that not evrything has to be done your way to be right

Hello!!

This is the real Wendy Cole and I only responded to one of Susan’s postings and I am NOT sorry that I did it. Because the messege was in poor taste. Susan may be a wonderful teacher, and her posting was hopefully a joke, but it should not have been posted on the LD Online board.

And who ever is using my name you might want to practice spelling and not give advice or appologies in my name. This board is used for advice and to help people. Not to make a fool out of other people.

By the way I am not sarcastic or angry; I am however honest and I take teaching very seriously.

You have a great night and try to be brave enough to use your own name the next time you post on this board!

Hi Bill,

I did not write the posting “I am sorry Susan”. If this is a real messeage from a real Bill I am glad that your son likes Susan, but I find it really hard to believe that a Learning Disablity teacher uses shock treatment on her students. In fact I am not sure it is even legal. Is it? And if it is legal or true I would like to know what school Susan teaches at. Is your son in a public or private school or is he in a special institution?

Anyway I did not appoligize for my reply to Susan’s posting and I do not think I should because it was not really appropriate for this Board. In fact I showed the message to a few of my fellow students and a professor and they did not see how anyone could post that message. It was not funny or tasteful.

Bill, you have a great day. I am glad that your son likes Susan and that you feel that she is a good teacher.

The real Wendy
