LD Pride

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Deaf Pride is something that bought change to Deaf education and Deaf President Now even gave the influance to the Deaf for knowing what they needed for their education. Has anyone ever asked the LD what they need to be educated. Once we go threw the the education system we know almost as much in our area of disablity than a specialist. I can fairly acurrately spot a Ld person diognosed or not. Specialists laugh at this and do not take me serously at all. but I have lived it and know the signs. I am not saying they not be tested because the test provides a lot of needed information. I think the LD of the US at least need to come together and be proad of of “disablites” and support each other much like the deaf community does. All LD share a thought process a struggle and experance knowing people that share that experance is important. Other than my family I know very few people who are LD because they hide it because we are thought in many schools it is something to be ashamed of so we all stuggle silently with others going through the same thing not very far away

Hi, I agree with you that we need to all come together and feel proud of ourselves with our LD. Two resources to try, there is a conversation right here on LD Online that covers LD pride http://www.ldonline.org/dale/index.html Dialogue with Dale. This is a place for people with learning disabilities to ask questions, get answers, and work together.

In additon, there is a website called LD Pride, you might want to check out. http://www.ldonline.org/dale/index.html
Liz Bogod is the webmaster and she is great.

So, I am glad you wrote your letter and wish you well in getting in touch with other people with learning disabilities
