Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Hello!!

My name is Wendy and I am a student at Florida Gulf Coast University, in Fort Myers, Florida, USA. My major is Special Education/Specific Learning Disabilities. One of my assignments for my Science Methods class is to interview an Elementary School Techer from another country via the internet (e-mail). I have five questions to ask and I need a responce by October 15. I am posting the questions with this message. I hope that someone will respond to my e-mail address ([email protected]. Thank you so much!!!!!

Question One
What do you think Elementary School teachers need to focus on, regarding science, in order to better prepare students to enter upper grade levels?

Question Two
How do you integrate all styles of learning in to your lesson plans/curriculum?

Question Three
What are two state requirements that you use most often in you Elementary science activities? Why do use these activities?

Question Four
What methods do you use to integrate science into other subjects in your curriculum? Why do you use these methods? If you do not integrate science with other subjects of learning, why not?

Question Five
Does the school district or administration direct the focus of the curriculum? Are you able to teach what you want?

Well those are the questions. I hope that someone from another country is able to answer them. I have been trying to get a response through the internet for about two weeks. So, please, someone answer, please.

Thank You!!!!!

Hi Wendy!(-: ,
I just read your cry for help. As, educators we all need to stick together to make this generation sensitive to the world around them. More and more kids are growing up too fast. In response to you five questions.
1. Elementary teachers need to focus on safety. The rest will fall into place on its own. A rigorous and well planned science program for the whole year will be on the testing of children and their knowledge of the science program for last year. You can have the year all planned and all your planning will be in good judgement but each year you have new students. All students have special needs and it is up to the teacher what those needs are.
