Summer Camp for LD-NJ

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Does anyone have resources for a summer camp in New Jersey? I’m a Bergen County LDT-C looking to place some elementary students with learning disabilities (not severly impaired) at a camp where there is a remedial instruction component.
Any ideas?

Contact in NYC two different places. Firstly contact Resources for childre and ask them to send you their summer camp book for children with special needs. I can not promise you that you will find out information specifically about New Jersey but it will describe sleep away programs throughout the USA specifically for children with special needs and which programs deal with which population. Secondly see where your states assocaition for accredited sleep away and day camps is located and ask them to send you a copy of camps catering to just your child’s needs. Also in NYC there is something called The National Assocation on Accredited Sleep Away Camps and perhaps they may have imformation that is helful to you.

Dear Joyce,

I just happened to see your message and I thought I would reply. I am co-directing a summer camp for dyslexic students in Wyoming. We are located on a ranch near Yellowstone Park. We have a full academic program featuring 1:1 Orton Gillingham tutoring, writing classes, small group writing instruction, structured study hall, and art. We have a full activities program with horseback riding, trout fishing (private stream), canoeing, rock climbing, hiking, and field trips as some of the offerings. Visit our website at www.shoshonesummer.com. I would be happy to send you brochures upon request. Write to me at [email protected] or call me at 617 625 1905. Thank you.

Best regards,

Fran Lunney
