Some of you may have met me from my recent long posts about reading and math.I am a professional tutor, working in Maryland near the Capital Beltway. I have been tutoring in various areas for the past seventeen years. I have experience with both LD and gifted students.I am fully qualified, BSc, BA Honours Math,BA Languages and Linguistics, and MA Education.I am offering tutoring in elementary reading, reading and math together, advanced/university math, and French language.In reading, I use a program that is a model of the recommendations of the NIH/NICHD study, inclucing systematic phonics, guided oral reading, and various approaches to comprehension. In phonics instruction, I do specific training in auditory discrimination, segmenting, and blending.In math, I concentrate on an applied problem-solving orientation. I teach elementary math in conjunction with reading, and I tutor university math to advanced calculus and abstract algebra.
