504 Plan

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I had a 504 Plan meeting over two weeks ago with my child’s school. Yesterday I received a copy of it in the mail (after requesting it). It is nothing like what was discussed at the meeting. What do I do to ahve it correctly reflect what was discussed and agreed to at the meeting - it lists what my child is responsible to do - there are no accomodations. Schools starts this week - I’m very worried!

If you took notes and have a list from the meeting, make a copy of it and send it with a letter requesting that the 504 plan be revised to reflect what was agreed upon in the meeting.

Great advice!

Get it in writing while you are there.

Many schools want to shirk their legal responsibilites or do the absolute minimum when it comes to disabled children. I am guessing that is the case with your school.
