The difference between developmental dyslexia and dyslexia

The term developmental Dyslexia, is a mis-used term.
It’s only value is in highlighting that all children’s brain processes, dont develop at precisely the same rate. What one child can do at age 5, another might not be able to do until age 7.
Which relates to the whole problem of diagnosing very young children.
Where it may be a functional difficulty, or perhaps it is just delayed development.
This is a major dilemma, where early intervention is vital for a functional difficulty, but is unhelpful when it is simply delayed development. Which just needs time to develop.’
Across the spectrum of Learning Difficulties, when to diagnose, is a question that doesn’t have a real answer?

I don’t agree. It may be harder to diagnose at an early stage but when you have family history and red flags all over the place its a problem. We do such a disservice when we tell parents don’t worry they may grow out of it. Then 5 years later we turn around and say its a problem.
