how long does the school have to perform requested test?

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I want my 9 year old daughter to be tested for LD/ dyslexia. How long do they have to comply with my request? She has always been a slow reader and is ADD. We have a 504 plan for her but she is still stuggling.
Help!

IDEA give a 60 day time limit for testing from the time of the request. If they are denying your request, ask for a written statement of denial. Make sure you are making all requests in writing and documenting all dates, conversations, etc. If they refuse to test, you have the option of taking the request higher into the district management and can also request an Independent Educational Evaluation at public expense.

also do school systems only have to test while you are still in college at the latest or if you are a resident in a town your whole life and want to be tested when you are in college do they need to?
