Balametrics--what to order?

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

For those who have used balametrics, what did you order—just the board and beanbags, or the basic home kit or the super home kit? What about the rotational board—how useful/essential is this? I notice this is part of the Neuronet kit. I want to order for my son, who has CAPD, somewhat remediated. Visual spatial skills seem pretty good. I don’t want to skimp, but also don’t want to order materials that won’t be needed or used. Thanks for any help.

The rotational board isn’t part of the Balametrics program. Neuronet is a separate therapy that incorporates the balance board into it. The developer had the Balametric people make the rotional board for her clients. We are doing Neuronet so that is the package I have. Can’t help much beyond that isn’t what you want.

I think the best value is probably the Basic Learning Breakthrough kit. This is what I got, and there is enough in it for a very wide variety of exercises. The people I know who have used it have only gotten as far as using the balance board with bean bags, and they were all happy with the results from just that — mainly improvements in processing speed and balance. However, in my opinion, the additional equipment you get in the BLB kit would be very useful if you are serious about doing this program and will keep at it for a year or more. We haven’t done much with it because my daughter doesn’t have auditory problems and we have been in a perpetual time crunch.

Be aware that it does take some space to set up the additional equipment (other than the balance board and bean bags). You suspend a ball from the ceiling, and you need to have open space for that ball to swing around. The targets also have to be set up some distance away.

It is important to note as above that NeuroNet is a separate therapy from Balametrics - www.neuronetlearning.com.
