Karen, our son now in 8th grade, did that cluttering of speech in 5th grade; it was related to anxiety in the classroom(he also wrote over certain letters when he was writing)…we did not treat it in any way, but worked to reduce the anxiety and the repeating phrases and copying over words went away when he went to middle school. I also think maturity helped as well.
