Is there a difference in the terms Learning Dissability and Learning Impairment? What do they mean?
Hello,
My experience is the following. The school system may tell you that your child has been found eligible under Specific Learning Disability. The Psychologist may tell you he/she has a Learning Disability. However, impaired is when something does not improve over time as in a Speech/language impairment. Children with Learning Disabilities can compensate and even overcome in certain situations. My child has a learning disability as defined by the school system, however that is not a medical diagnosis. These terms are all used only to receive services.
