newbie introducing herself

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Hiya!! Im new here n would just like to introduce myself n my family. Im Sharon aged 35, i live with my fantastic partner Glynn n i have 2 gorgeous boys, Joshua aged 12 n Nathan aged 10. We are from the UK.

Joshua has been showing signs of ADHD or LD for quite a few years now, when he was 9 we had the educational pyscologist do assessments on him at school which had results at a very low percentage but was not able to be statemented. He was also visiting regular our local specialist GP. He was never actually diagnosed with ADHD (even though the GP said he did show signs) but was diagnosed with having a LD. Since then our concerns have grown increasingly and have therefore contacted our GP who has referred him to a specialist GP once again. (appt in June). Also we have a meeting tomorrow morning at his school with the SENCO teacher to discuss having futher assessments done by the educational psycologist.

I have joined this site for any advice and support, and at all times will offer my advice and support to others where at all possible.

Looking forward to hearing from you all.

Just an update, well we went for the meeting this morning with the SENCO teacher who agrees with me and my partner that Josh needs to be re-assessed by the educational pyshcologist. She is going to try and rush this assessment through so we can have it done before the end of this school term, if not we will have to wait until september. We also discussed that Josh could also be dyslexic?? This has been a concern of mine also for some time so hopefully we can get a diagnosis then the school can apply for extra funding for extra help with Josh.

Welcome!

a new evaluation is a good idea. Did you feel the other one was a good picture of your son’s strengths and challenges?
