for parents with ADHD and bipolar

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

How did you find out your children were comorbid? Did you go to your MD for diagnosis or a psychiatrist? How much hx of mental illness is a factor in all of this? The “web definition” of rapid cycling confuses me, I guess I’m looking for specific instances to say, “oh yeah” or “no way.” Thanks!

I have been very confused as well. The book, The Bipolar Child by Papalos, provides more examples of various symptoms and some comparisons to ADHD. I think that finding a child psychiatrist who has specific experience with ADHD/Bipolar is imperative. We’ve also looked into some research studies in our area to find some clinicians who have experience evaluating a wide range of kids.
