the personal experience for ADD + slow processing speed kid

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

My son is 11 years old. 3 years ago we found he had ADD plus slow process speed. Then, I found the thread here http://www.ldonline.org/xarbb/topic/14007, which helped us. So, I decided to share my experience here. We found our son had ADD and slow processing speed when he was 8. His processing speed was in low 5%. He had a lot of issues. The biggest one was slow, very slow. It took him forever to finish copying the homework. Also, he could not write a whole sentence. He could not organize his thought. Usually, it took him hours to write a few sentences. He had very bad body coordination and was not good at any sport. We worked very hard (sitting with him doing the homework, doing sports, tutoring, practicing on math). Now, he is really getting a lot better (faster, more concentrate). He’s still not good at writing, but he is not afraid of it. He can write a 1 to 2 pages essay in less than one hour. He got two 4s on the state test while only about 30% passed the exams in the state. He still has long way to go but we are happy with his achievement so far. We did two therapies Interactive Metronome and then NeuroNet. Both of them helped him, especially NeuroNet. I wrote a lot, but I am afraid that nobody’s interested to know the detail, so I deleted most of them. Please let me know what you want to know more. I will reply your question. But I am busy and may not response immediately. Also, please let me know if you have any good experience with those kind of kids. Wish our kids the best!
