Re: Concerta

If you want more information about the pharmacology of Concerta you can go the the web site www.concerta.net. It is published by the manufacturers of Concerts, but it offers a very good explaination of the delivery system and how it works. When it first came out, I was also the first parent to request it. I was desperate for information and wouldn’t give it to my son until I was satisfied. My 9 year old son has been taking it 3-4 months now and we are very pleased. He says that he doesn’t feel the peeks and valleys so much, he can eat, and it lasts through the day. I’m not sure what strength you are giving your child(ren), that may be a factor. Have they been successful with Ritalin in the past? Being that Concerta is Ritalin in a new sustained-release delivery system, I would surmise, kids who responded well to Ritalin, respond well to Concerta.I am by no means a doctor, and all decisions about your childs medications should go through him/her, but there is clinical information out there about Concerta and I feel every parent should learn as much as possible.Hope this helps!
