Re-eval/Annual Review Meeting

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Does anyone know if you can have a re-evaluation meeting at the same time as an Annual Review meeting? The meeting is being held to discuss next years program but at the same time re-evaluation will be discussed. The child is not due for re-eval for 6 months.
Thank you.Susan

There is no reason why not unless you are uncomfortable with it. It only needs to be clear when you are talking about during the different phases of the meeting.

I can think of several good reasons to do this:

You may have a team that is trying to get dates to line up better so that the information from the eval is more current in the IEP insead of getting it 6 months into the year.

My schedule- and that of most diagnosticians and psyches- fill up really quickly once the school year begins so that I usually schedule anywhere from three to six weeks in advance. This is not by choice BTW- the slots just fill up.

The school may have questions that need to be answered by doing the eval sooner rather than later- schools are also allowed to do this- they just can’t be late:)

Maybe it was a typo on the form…

Have you asked?
