My son just called and let us know he had received a MIP with his friends who were camping. We are getting so frustrated with him….he has ADHD and has been in a self-sabotage mode. He has about a 2.6 GPA and he won’t talk to us about college or any future plans. Now this to start out his senior year. We are wavering between just letting the law administer the effective punishment or adding on additional punishments on top of the fine and community service requirements that will surely be a result of this. We have tried everything….encouragement, contract, and everything in between. We don’t know how to keep him on track and are so worried that he will get in further difficulty with the law, etc. Any adivice for parents of teens (he is 17)? Please help us see the light at the end of this tunnel and what might be good methods fo dealing with his behavior. Thank you and good luck to anyone who is on this forum and suffering as a parent.
